The Scoundrel Hotel – A Place for the Lovable Lawless

Branding created by Revpar Media, all right reserved

Tucked into the misty folds of the Smoky Mountains, The Scoundrel Hotel was born from the myth and mischief of East Tennessee’s moonshine legacy. Inspired by the notorious but beloved moonshiner Popcorn Sutton, our branding reimagines the backwoods outlaw spirit into something warm, mischievous, and unforgettable.

At the heart of our story is Popcorn the Groundhog—a fuzzy fugitive and the namesake of Sutton’s real-life pet. With a fedora tilted just right and paws always up to something, Popcorn embodies the perfect blend of old-time charm and cheeky rebellion. He’s our mascot, but more than that, he’s the soul of the brand: a rogue, a legend, and the world’s cutest outlaw.

Popcorn appears everywhere—from the signage to the stitching in our linens, from cheeky “Wanted” posters to the embossed logo on your whiskey glass. But he’s never quite where you expect him.

Because Popcorn, like any good scoundrel, is on the run.

We’ve turned his hide-and-seek lifestyle into a full-on guest experience. Spot Popcorn—on a coaster, in the wallpaper, hidden in a mural. Every find brings you closer to a deeper sip of Appalachian tradition.

Our early mockups captured the spirit with pencil-sketched precision: Popcorn in his hat, encircled like a stamp of outlaw quality. Every rough line hinted at the rough roads and secret stills that inspired us. We kept the original drawings as part of our story, like blueprints for rebellion.

Whether you’re here for a cozy mountain escape or a spirited adventure, The Scoundrel Hotel invites you to step into a world where wild is always welcome.
